Good Film VS Offer Film

Good Film VS Offer Film

Good Is Common. Offer-Level Is Rare.

Many athletes have good film. Very few have offer-level film.

Coaches are evaluating traits, not just highlights. They want to see size, speed, power, instincts, discipline, and consistency. Flashy plays are nice, but traits translate to the next level.

What Translates

For football players:

  • Blocking effort
  • Pursuit angles
  • Physicality
  • Consistent execution

For basketball players:

  • Defensive stance
  • Help defense
  • Shot selection
  • Decision-making under pressure

For softball and baseball players:

  • Quality at-bats
  • Pitch recognition
  • Defensive range
  • Arm strength
  • For soccer players:
  • First touch
  • Vision
  • Work rate
  • Decision-making in tight spaces

For volleyball players:

  • Serve consistency
  • Defensive coverage
  • Communication
  • Transition play

For track athletes:

  • Official times
  • Consistency across meets
  • Explosive starts
  • Finish mechanics

College coaches recruit what translates to their system and their level of competition.

Why Some Film Gets Ignored

  • Too many average plays
  • No context
  • No measurable data
  • No clear separation
  • No visible competitive edge

If every clip looks similar, you are not standing out.

The Final Test

Your film must answer one question clearly: why you?

Not why you had a good game.
Not why your team won.

Why you belong at the next level.
